Description

French Onion Dip is creamy, savory, and full of deep onion flavor. Caramelized onions give this classic party dip a rich homemade taste that works perfectly with chips and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon chopped chives or green onions for garnish

Instructions

1. Heat the butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-low heat.

2. Add the onions and cook slowly, stirring often, until they turn deep golden brown and soft, about 25 to 30 minutes.

3. Transfer the onions to a plate and let them cool slightly.

4. Add the sour cream, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to a bowl.

5. Stir until the mixture looks smooth.

6. Fold in the cooled onions.

7. Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes.

8. Garnish with chives or green onions and serve.

Notes

Cook the onions slowly so they turn sweet and rich without burning.

Make the dip ahead if you want deeper flavor after chilling.

Serve with kettle chips, crackers, or sliced vegetables.
